Tony Silber, Planning and Zoning

I am the managing director of a media-related industry association, with a career that includes founding two successful media companies and serving as group vice president at two others. I began as a newspaper reporter covering Trumbull for the Connecticut Post and am the author of Twelve Days, a 2023 book about the Civil War. Since 1998, my wife, Deb, and I have called Trumbull home, raising our family here. My service on local land-use boards and the Board of Finance has given me a strong background in both development and conservation, while my work as a journalist, publisher, and author has sharpened the analytical skills I bring to public service.

  • I'm invested in the town. I'm knowledgable in land use, and how and where to apply land-use concepts in Trumbull. I've always sought to be an activist in local government and lend my voice to the community conversation.

  • Trumbull is a great town now, so I'm a land-use conservative. My goals are to carefully manage inevitable—and positive—growth and change, always with an eye to reducing the residential tax burden, while limiting congestion and maintaining our residential emphasis. Reimagining the Trumbull Mall site is an essential priority.

  • I've served on P&Z since 2019. Before that, I served from 2011 to 2016. I served two years as an alternate on the Board of Finance 2017-2018 and four years on the Inland Wetlands Commission.

  • Living in the best town in Connecticut. With the best schools. The best people. The best quality of life, encompassing the best that suburban living has to offer.

Fun Facts

What’s a fun fact about you? In addition to being a non-fiction author, I play the drums in a rock and roll band called The Bad Slugs. It's a reference to an old-style newspaper technology.

What's your favorite place in Trumbull? Many to choose from. I'd say the Pequonnock Trail. Followed by Twin Brooks Park. Followed by Tashua Knolls.
