Christine El Eris, Town Council, District 3

My husband, Fred Petrossi, and I moved to Trumbull 25 years ago as a newly married couple, and today we’re the proud parents of twin seventh graders at Madison Middle School. Our son plays for Trumbull United Soccer, and our daughter is active in musical theater through TYA JR, Trumbull Community Theater, and Madison’s Broadway Babies productions. I work full time at Webster Bank as Director of Fraud and Risk Management, bringing decades of experience in strategy, analytics, planning, operations, and budgeting—skills I draw upon as a Town Council member. Over the years, I’ve been active in the community through the Trumbull Historical Society, school PTAs, the Board of Finance, and other volunteer roles.

  • Trumbull is a top-notch community with award-winning schools, abundant parks, robust social services, and thriving local businesses. As a former Alternate on the Board of Finance, I have a deep understanding of town departments, budgets, and capital planning. I prepare thoroughly for every meeting, asking tough questions to ensure spending delivers real value—such as challenging a $1.5 million design expense for a pedestrian bridge that would have cost millions more to build. Trumbull is my home, and I’m committed to giving back to the town I love.

  • Public safety is essential. As someone who walks for fitness and whose children ride bikes locally, I’m concerned about traffic hazards. Trumbull is fortunate to have excellent professional and volunteer emergency responders in our Police, Fire, and EMS departments. Inspired by Fairfield’s Safe Streets Alliance, I’d like to create something similar here to promote safer driving and educate walkers and cyclists. We’ve seen the power of public-private coalitions through TPAUD’s success in reducing youth substance abuse and supporting youth mental health. I also believe the town should consider adding sidewalks in key areas, which may require a new ordinance to address snow removal responsibilities.

Cost of living and property taxes affect us all. If elected to Town Council, I will continue to scrutinize every budget line and look for reductions where possible.

Finally, our town government must meet the needs of residents of all ages. Trumbull’s seniors deserve a safe, fully ADA-compliant, energy-efficient new building for events and programming, and I will advocate for it to be built cost-effectively.

    • Former Tashua Elementary School PTA Diversity Committe Co-Chair

    • Former Board Member, Trumbull Historical Society

  • When my husband and I discovered and moved to Trumbull 25 years ago as newlyweds, we were in love with our new home, the convenience to commute to our respective jobs, and the amazing public parks system. The list of all that I love about Trumbull is very long, but one thing which really stands out to me is that our town's population has grown more diverse over the time we have lived here, which is heartwarming to see.

Fun Facts

What’s a fun fact about you? Every spring our family taps several maple trees on our property to make maple syrup. Also we live in one of the Mallett houses which is estimated to have been built in 1775, one year before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

What's your favorite place in Trumbull? I love the revitalized Long Hill Green area. So many of my and my family's favorite places to eat lunch or dinner out are located here (and so is my hair stylist). It is really lovely to be able to enjoy the new sidewalks, lawn plantings, park benches, and someday also a sidewalk connection to the Parlor Rock trail.
