How to Vote Absentee

Step 1: Fill out an Application for Absentee Ballot online at the CT Secretary of State’s website or go to the Town Clerk’s Office (5866 Main St., 1st Floor, Trumbull) and obtain one.

Step 2: Return the filled-out application to the Trumbull Town Clerk’s office as soon as possible. Upon returning the application, the Town Clerk’s Office may ONLY give you YOUR OWN ballot. If you hand in an application on behalf of someone else, the Town Clerk’s Office will then mail the Absentee Ballot to the applicant directly.

Wonder if you can vote absentee? Yes, you can – if you can answer yes to one of these questions:

Connecticut has strict laws regarding who can vote absentee.

  • Are you an active member of the armed forces of the United States?

  • Will you be out of town on Election Day?

  • Does sickness prevent you from voting in person on Election Day?

  • Do your religious beliefs prevent you from performing secular activities like voting on Election Day?

  • Will you be performing duties as an election official at a polling place other than your own on Election Day?

  • Does a physical disability prevent you from voting in person on election day?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you are eligible to vote absentee.
